Ms. NEOU Sonika

Sonika is currently a Member of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice’s Cabinet and a Deputy Director of the Secretariate of Legal and Justice Council of the Ministry of Justice. Soon after her LL.M’s graduation in Japan and prior to moving to the public sector, Sonika started her early career as a Legal Associate in a prominent law firm in Cambodia where she assisted local and foreign clients on various complex transactions and commercial contracts and documents, including real estate and property development, particularly in relation to developments of major co-owned buildings and mixed-used development complexes, M&A, Due Diligence, Joint Venture, SPA, and other corporate and transactional agreements.

During her academic pursuit, Sonika was involved in various extra-curricular activities, including participation in local and international debating competitions, where she, while representing RULE and Cambodia, was crowned the national and regional champion in the debating category of the JCI Public Speaking and Debating Championship in Cambodia and the JCI Asia Pacific Public Speaking and Debating Championship in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, respectively, and proceeded to compete in the world round in the Netherlands. Aside from that, Sonika has also participated in multiple Moot competitions, including the William C. Vis East Moot in Hong Kong, where she represented RULE, and the Intercollegiate Negotiation Competition in Tokyo, where she represented Nagoya University.
