Mr. MANG Sohan

Judge Sohan is a presiding judge of the Stung Treng District Court of the First Instance. In his role, Judge Sohan leads judicial procedures and adjudicates both criminal and non-criminal cases. He also investigates serious criminal cases referred by the public prosecution office. He is a former high-ranking diplomatic official in the legal department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Besides his judicial profession, he is also an adjunct lecturer in law at leading law universities, including RULE’s ELBBL, a law researcher, and a research supervisor. He academically graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law from RULE in 2011, a research fellow in peace and human security in Asia from Osaka University in 2014, a master’s degree in international human rights law from PUC supported by RWI, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in criminal law at Korea University, Seoul, RoK.

Throughout the last decade, he took part in many academic and professional activities, including workshops and conferences taking place from the Asian regions to the African, American, and European continents, not only as a participant but also as a speaker, trainer, visiting scholar, visiting professional, and visiting judge. He is now a WIPO international judge alumni and YSEALI-ACYPL PFP alumni.
